Peace and blessings upon you anon,
In my humble opinion, one does find happiness in this world but there is a difference. The happiness we want to attain is the type in which we are in command of it all, but this will never happen. The happiness which we should try to obtain and understand is the one which Allah has manifested for us.
The reason why we are never satisfied with the latter is because we never understand it and therefore hate it or despise it. Given there are things we will never understand, but put those to the side. We often feel like things are never going our way or nothing fits together. The reason is, we haven’t understood the scope of our life, its meaning and purpose.
Let me give you a brief example: When I was younger, my mentality was that if Allah took my life away this instant, it would be completely unfair. How come person X got to live longer, get married, have a family, establish a career, accomplish his/her goals and thrive? But I had to die at the age of 15? Absolutely unfair. But these are the words of the person I was when I did not understand the purpose in this world and reason for life.
The reality is that we should be living our life in such a way that if Allah took our lives today, the quality of that one day can be easily matched to for example 4 years. Quantity of course will never match but it’s the quality that matters most. I personally hate the world religious, because it’s treated as an accessory as though it’s just a coat or jacket to wear for the day and take if off tomorrow. It’s not how it works, it’s a system of life, a style of balancing your life to live it to its full potential. Once you treat it as such, it will intertwine with your life rather being there temporarily.
At times you will fall to your knees because you’ve opened a chapter of failure but who said failure is a bad thing? You learn from your mistakes and appreciate it, it’s a feeling a that humbles you. Allah is only polishing you for what’s to come. And this is in regards to life and religion. There will be days you wake up with high spirit and energy, and days where you do not even want to pray.
Imam Ali (AS):
"This life consists of two days- one for you and one against you. On the day that it is for you, you should not behave vainly, and on the day that it is against you, you should not be grieved, because both days are tests for you."
I swear to you, reading this always gives me confidence and motivation even on the days where I feel like nothing goes right. Further more here are two other sayings:
Imam Ali (AS):
Oh Allah, when I lose my hopes and plans, help me remember that your love for me is greater than my disappointments, and your plans for me are better than my dreams.
Imam Ali (AS):
When my Dua is accepted I become happy for this is my wish, but when my Dua is not accepted I become more happy for this was Allah’s Will.
The bottom line is that yes religion is a huge portion of this because the more you understand it, the better you will be able to grasp this concept of how this dunya works. You will no longer fall for the temporary glitter that comes your way, and your eyes will be on the objective that Allah has set for you.
All I have said is from myself and first-hand experience, if I have said anything to hurt you, please forgive me. And if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.
Have a blessed day InshaAllah
